The challenge

A growing range, and nowhere to browse it.

Unique Toy Shop had a growing product range but did not have a dedicated eCommerce website where customers could easily browse the complete catalog.

Product inquiries were being handled manually, which meant customers often had to contact the business to ask about pricing, availability and ordering.

The goal was to create a professional WooCommerce store that would:

  • Display the full product catalog clearly.
  • Make products easier to browse by category.
  • Show product prices and details online.
  • Provide a straightforward cart and checkout process.
  • Allow the owner to manage products independently.
  • Create a strong foundation for future SEO and digital marketing.

WooCommerce was selected because it provides flexibility, full ownership of store data and an easy way for the business to continue expanding its product catalog.

What we built

A store, and a system for running it.

WooCommerce product catalog development

A major part of the project was creating and organizing the store's product catalog. We added 150+ products across several product categories, including product images, pricing, descriptions and relevant category information.

Instead of creating basic listings with only a product name and image, each product was structured to provide customers with enough information to understand what they were viewing before making a purchase. This also gives the website a stronger foundation for future product-level SEO.

Product category structure

The catalog was organized around the way customers are likely to search and browse for toys. Categories include board games, building blocks, modeling clay play sets, dolls, die-cast models, educational toys, RC cars, quadcopters, art sets, musical toys, baby items, train sets, sports toys and makeup sets.

Using clear product categories makes the store easier to navigate and creates dedicated category pages that can also be optimized for relevant search terms over time.

Consistent SKU management

A simple sequential SKU system was introduced, beginning with UTS-001. Each new product receives the next available SKU, giving the store owner a consistent way to identify and manage products.

The system was intentionally kept simple so it can continue to be used as the catalog expands.

Product pricing and sale prices

WooCommerce was configured to support both regular and sale pricing, and most of the catalog carries a discount.

This allows customers to clearly see the original price and discounted price where applicable, while keeping all pricing information properly managed inside WooCommerce.

The Just landed row on the Unique Toy Shop homepage, showing four product cards with photographs, names and rupee prices. The first is marked SALE with Rs7,000 struck through and Rs6,500 beside it in red

Complete WooCommerce store setup

The project covered more than just product uploads. We configured the essential pages and functionality needed for a complete online shopping experience, including the shop page, product category pages, individual product pages, the shopping cart, checkout, customer accounts, a contact page, shipping information, a privacy policy and terms and conditions.

The aim was to create a complete customer journey from browsing a product through to placing an order.

Custom WordPress child theme

The website was developed using a custom WordPress child theme. This allowed us to customize the appearance and functionality of the store without modifying the parent theme directly.

Using a child theme also makes future theme updates easier to manage because custom changes remain separate from the parent theme files.

Decisions

Why WooCommerce, and why simple products.

Why we used WooCommerce

WooCommerce was a good fit for this project because the client wanted direct ownership and control of the website and product catalog. The platform allows the business to manage products, pricing, customers and orders directly through WordPress.

It also provides flexibility for future improvements such as inventory management, payment gateway integrations, shipping options, product variations, coupons and promotions, SEO improvements, and analytics and reporting.

Unlike a fully hosted eCommerce platform, WooCommerce gives the business greater control over its website and store data.

Why we used simple products

The products in this catalog are mainly individual items with a single price. Because customers did not need to select options such as size or color, WooCommerce simple products provided the most straightforward setup.

If products require variations in the future, they can be converted to variable products where necessary.

SEO foundation

Built in during development, not bolted on after.

SEO was considered during the development process. The website was structured to provide a solid technical foundation for future eCommerce SEO work.

Clear product and category URLs

Products and categories use structured URLs that help visitors and search engines understand the organization of the store.

Product information

Each product has its own dedicated page with product information, pricing and images. This creates individual pages that can be improved further for relevant product searches.

Product image alt text

Product images were reviewed and given descriptive alternative text where appropriate. Alt text improves accessibility and provides additional context to search engines about the content of an image.

Heading structure

Pages use clear headings to make the content easier for visitors to scan while also helping search engines understand the structure of each page.

Canonical URLs

Canonical URLs help identify the preferred version of pages where multiple URLs could potentially lead to similar content. This is particularly useful on eCommerce websites where products and categories can sometimes be accessed through different paths.

Breadcrumb navigation

Breadcrumb navigation helps customers understand where they are within the store and makes it easier to move between categories and products. It also provides search engines with additional information about the structure of the website.

Product structured data

WooCommerce provides structured product information that can help search engines understand details such as product names, prices and offers. Correct structured data can make product pages eligible for enhanced presentation in search results.

Website caching

Caching was configured to reduce unnecessary server processing and improve page-loading performance. This provides a better technical foundation as the website receives more visitors and the product catalog continues to grow.

Mobile-friendly design

The main shop, category pages, product pages, cart and checkout were designed to work across desktop, tablet and mobile devices. Mobile usability is particularly important for eCommerce because many customers discover and purchase products directly from their phones.

Product catalog

What the catalog actually looks like.

The completed store contains a wide range of toys, from lower-priced games and activity products to larger remote-controlled products.

The result

A store the owner can run without a developer.

Unique Toy Shop now has its own structured WooCommerce store where customers can browse products, review pricing and move through the shopping process online.

The store includes:

  • 150+ products
  • A structured product category system
  • Consistent SKU management
  • Regular and sale pricing
  • Product images and descriptions
  • Shopping cart and checkout
  • Customer account functionality
  • Responsive mobile layouts
  • Essential store policy pages
  • An SEO-ready technical structure

The website was also built so the owner can continue adding and managing products through WooCommerce without requiring a developer for routine catalog updates. This gives the business a scalable platform that can continue to grow alongside its product range.

What the owner says.

“Working with 313 Automations was a smooth experience from start to finish. They took our product range and turned it into a well-organised online store that feels clean, professional and easy for customers to use.

What I liked most was that they understood what we actually needed instead of overcomplicating things. The store is simple for us to manage, easy to update, and gives Unique Toy Shop a much stronger online presence.

I'm really pleased with how everything came together and would happily recommend 313 Automations to other businesses looking to build or improve their online store.”
