The challenge

An established shop with a dated website

Wood Logs Scotland delivers firewood to homes across Glasgow and Lanarkshire using its own vans. Customers order online, and the shop had been running on WooCommerce for years.

The website had fallen behind the business. The design looked dated, the shop pages used WooCommerce's plain default layout, and some prices typed into the pages no longer matched the prices in the shop.

Behind the scenes, the site carried plugins it no longer needed and settings left over from older ones. Pages loaded slowly, especially on phones, and a script error appeared on every page.

The owner had a new design in mind and wanted it built properly in WordPress, so the team could keep editing the site themselves.

What we did

A new design on the same shop

A new design built in Divi

We built the owner's design in Divi's own editor: the homepage, header, footer, menus and every inner page. Fonts and colors are set once for the whole site, so the pages stay consistent as they change.

Shop, basket and checkout

We designed new templates for products, categories, the shop, blog posts and search results. Product cards show live prices and stock from the shop, so nothing typed by hand can go out of date. The basket, checkout, order confirmation and account pages were styled to match. See our WooCommerce development service.

Tested on every screen size

Every page was checked on phones, tablets, laptops and wide screens before launch. We fixed layout faults, broken images and script errors until each page displayed cleanly at every size.

A cleaner, lighter setup

We removed plugins the store no longer needed and cleared out settings and data left behind by old ones. The contact form was rebuilt in Divi, so a spam-check script no longer loads on every page. Product reviews are now limited to customers who bought the item.

Faster pages

The site's fonts are now served from its own server, styles are combined and compressed, and fewer scripts load on the homepage. On product pages the main photo now loads first, so customers see the product sooner. Accessibility fixes let visitors zoom the page and help screen readers find the main content.

Product range and search basics

When the business stopped selling briquettes, we replaced them with Whisky Barrel Firewood across the site and redirected the old briquette pages to the nearest product, so existing links still work. Each page now has one clear main heading and a proper summary for search results. More on our SEO services.

The result

A modern store the team can manage

The new Wood Logs Scotland website is live. It presents the product range clearly, works well on phones and keeps the ordering and delivery process customers already know.

The team can update pages, products and offers in WordPress without a developer, and the store runs on a smaller, tidier setup that is easier to maintain.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Why did the store stay on WooCommerce?

The business already ran its orders, customers and delivery charges through WooCommerce. Keeping it meant the team could carry on working the same way while the design and performance improved.

Can the team edit the pages themselves?

Yes. Every page and shop template was built in Divi's own editor, so text, images and sections can be changed in WordPress without a developer.

Was the live shop affected during the work?

No. The new design was built and tested on a private copy of the store. The live shop kept taking orders until the new version was ready to replace it.
